Egbert Roscoe Murrow (25 Nisan 1908 – 27 Nisan 1965), Amerikalı gazeteci, haber spikeri ve radyocudur.

Hayatı

II. Dünya Savaşı sırasında yaptığı radyo haberleriyle ünlendi. Haber spikerliğinin öncülerinden olan Murrow meslektaşları tarafından gazeteciliğin en önemli simalarından biri olarak görülmektedir.

McCarthycilik olarak adlandırılan dönemde, bu akımın öncülüğünü yapan Senatör Joseph Raymond McCarthy'ye karşı olan muhalefeti ile hatırlanmaktadır.[1] Tartışmaları sonucu Senatör Joseph Raymond McCarthy ve öncülüğünü yaptığı akım büyük yara almıştır.[2]

Joseph Raymond McCarthy ve McCarthycilik ile olan mücadelesi 2005 yılında George Clooney tarafından İyi Geceler ve İyi Şanslar adıyla filme çekilmiştir. Murrow'u Amerikalı aktör David Strathairn canlandırmıştır.

Günde 3 paket civarı sigara içtiği bilinen Murrow,[3] 57 yaşında akciğer kanseri sonucu ölmüştür.
