D. A. 카슨 (Donald Arthur Carson, 1946년 12월 21일 ~ )은 캐나다 몬트리얼에서 출생한 개혁주의적 복음주의 신학자이며 미국 트리니티 신학교의 신약신학 교수였다. 지금은 명예교수이다.^[1] 한국의 제자로는 합동신학대학원대학교의 김추성 교수가 있다.

목회자로서의 신학자에 대한 조언

카슨 박사는 ‘목사로서의 신학자’를 위한 교훈을 12가지로 다음과 같이 제시했다. 첫 번째는 병참 장교의 역할과 목회 사역에 적극적 참여와 훈련이다. 두 번째로는 학식을 갖추는 것보다 학식 있다고 여겨지는 걸 더 중시하게 되는 ‘칭찬의 유혹’을 조심하고, 세 번째로는 성경에 대한 ‘객관적인 연구’와 ‘경건을 위한 읽기’, ‘비판적 읽기’와 ‘경건을 위한 읽기’ 사이에서 발생하는 괴리와 온 힘을 다해 싸워야 한다. 이 밖에 ④신학교에 사람들이 있음을 절대 잊지 말고 ⑤서로 은사가 다른 것을 인정하며 ⑥학생들은 당신이 가르치는 것을 모두 배우지 않으므로, 그들이 무엇을 배우는지 확인하고 ⑦중요한 것(성경)을 중요한 것 되게 하며 ⑧(출판인들의 비전을 넘어서는) 비전을 위해 기도하며 연구하고 ⑨교회를 사랑하며 ⑩외톨이 유격대원식의 학문을 피하고 ⑪다른 사람의 연구에 관심을 기울이며 ⑫‘자신’이 아니라 ‘자신의 일’을 중히 여기라(겸손하라) 등이다.^[2]
