マルコム・バッド

マルコム・バッド FBA（Malcolm Budd、1941年12月23日 - ）は、イギリスの哲学者。

経歴

ケンブリッジ大学ジーザス・カレッジで数学と哲学を学ぶ。1970年から2001年までユニヴァーシティ・カレッジ・ロンドンで教鞭をとり、1998年から退職まで、Grote Professor of the Philosophy of Mind and Logicを務めた^[1]。現在は名誉教授の地位にある^[2]。

分析美学（分析哲学的美学）の研究で最もよく知られる。音楽の表現力、自然の美的鑑賞、芸術の価値観に関する論文を発表している。

（純粋にインストルメンタルな）音楽の表現力について、バッドは、音楽が感情の何らかの特徴に似ているという、一種の類似性理論を擁護していることで知られている。しかし、ピーター・キヴィやスティーヴン・デイヴィスとは異なり、バッドは音楽が感情の感じ方に似ていると主張している。

1995年、イギリス学士院フェロー^[1]。
