Vasopresin (bahasa Inggris: Arginine Vasopressin, AVP, VP, Argipressin, Antidiuretic Hormone, ADH) adalah hormon yang dapat ditemui hampir di semua mamalia,^[4] termasuk manusia. VP adalah sebuah hormon peptida yang mengatur penyerapan kembali molekul yang berada pada ginjal dengan memengaruhi permeabilitas jaringan dinding tubulus ginjal, sehingga berfungsi untuk mengatur pengeluaran urin.

VP maupun oksitosin/OT disintesis oleh magnocellular neurons dari hypothalamic supraoptic nuclei (SON) dan paraventricular nuclei (PVN) hipotalamus dan disimpan di dalam vesikel hipofisis posterior sebagai bagian dari precursor (substrat bahan baku) bagi preprohormone. Setiap bagian dipisahkan untuk diedarkan dalam bentuk nonapeptida, neurophysin, dan dari VP sebuah glikopeptida jenis kopeptin, ke dalam sirkulasi darah atau langsung menuju ke dalam otak.

Pada sirkulasi darah, VP akan mengatur homeostasis antara Natrium dan air, sementara OT mengatur parturition dan lactation.

VP bersama dengan OT merupakan hormon neurohipofisis (bahasa Inggris: neurohypophysial) yang ditemukan pertama kali oleh Oliver and Schafer pada tahun 1895 dengan pengamatan ekstrak hipofisis yang memengaruhi tekanan darah. Beberapa dekade kemudian, ekstrak hipofisis posterior ditengarai mempunyai efek yang lain yaitu kontraksi uterus pada tahun 1906, sekresi kelenjar susu pada tahun 1910, efek antidiuretik pada tahun 1913. Hingga pada tahun 1952, du Vigneaud dan koleganya menemukan dua jenis peptida dalam hormon ini, sehingga deret dan struktur asam amino untuk VP dan OT beserta fungsi dan sintesisnya dapat dijelaskan.

OT dan VP merupakan neuropeptida purba yang merupakan keluarga peptida dengan konservasi tinggi meliputi berbagai phylum yang timbul dari duplikasi gen vasotosin purba. Pada organisme primitif seperti freshwater hydra ditemukan senyawa yang mirip dengan OT/VP pada mamalia, tetrapod memakai mesotosin dan vasotosin, ikan mempunyai isotosin dan vasotosin. Kedua nonapeptida mempunyai rumus bangun yang tersusun oleh disulfida. Hanya residu asam amino ketiga dan kedelapan yang membedakan kedua jenis peptida ini.
