The Best Years of Our Lives (alias Glory for Me dan Home Again) adalah sebuah film drama Amerika 1946 garapan William Wyler dan dibintangi oleh Myrna Loy, Fredric March, Dana Andrews, Teresa Wright, Virginia Mayo, dan Harold Russell. Film tersebut berkisah tentang tiga perwira AS yang menjalani kehidupan sipil setelah pulang kampung dari Perang Dunia II. Samuel Goldwyn terinspirasi untuk membuat sebuah film entang para veteran setelah membaca sebuah artikel tertanggal 7 Agustus 1944 dalam majalah Time tentang kesulitan yang dialami oleh pria yang kembali ke kehidupan sipil. Goldwyn mengundang bekas koresponden perang MacKinlay Kantor untuk menulis skenarionya. Karyanya mula-mula diterbitkan sebagai sebuah novella, Glory for Me, yang Kantor tulis dalam ayat kosong.[4][5][6][7] Robert E. Sherwood kemudian mengadaptasi novella tersebut menjadi sebuah permainan latar.[7]
The Best Years of Our Lives memenangkan tujuh Academy Award pada 1946, yang meliputi Film Terbaik, Sutradara Terbaik (William Wyler), Aktor Terbaik (Fredric March), Aktor Pendukung Terbaik (Harold Russell), Penyuntingan Film Terbaik (Daniel Mandell), Skenario Adaptasi Terbaik (Robert E. Sherwood), dan Musik Asli Terbaik (Hugo Friedhofer).[8] Selain kesuksesan kritisnya, film tersebut cepat meraih kesuksesan komersial besar setelah dirilis. Film tersebut menjadi film berkeuntungan tertinggi dan film paling banyak ditonton di Amerika Serikat dan Inggris sejak perilisan Gone with the Wind, terjual sekitar 55 kita tiket di Amerika Serikat a[9] yang sebanding dengan keuntungannya yang sejumlah $23,650,000.[10] Film tersebut masih menjadi film paling banyak ditonton keenam sepanjang masa di Inggris, dengan lebih dari 20 juta tiket terjual.[11] Ini menjadi salah satu angka penonton tertinggi sepanjang masa, dengan penjualan tiket mencapai $20.4 juta.[12]

Andrews looked at the onionskin pages and asked, 'Mac, why did you write this in blank verse?' 'Dana', said Kantor with a wry smile, 'I can't afford to write in blank verse, because nobody buys anything written in blank verse. But when Sam asked me to write this story, he didn't tell me not to write it in blank verse!'
