Robert Pont

Robert Pont (bentuk singkat dari Kylpont atau Kynpont ) [1] (1529 – 1606) adalah seorang pendeta, hakim, dan reformator Gereja Skotlandia. Dia adalah seorang pendeta dan komisaris gereja dan seorang Senator dari College of Justice.

Terjemahannya atas Pengakuan Iman Helvetik diperintahkan untuk dicetak oleh Sidang Umum. Keahlian hukum Pont memungkinkannya untuk diangkat menjadi Provost di Trinity College, dan melalui pengaruh Morton, tetapi dengan persetujuan Majelis, ia menerima kursi di Court of Session pada tahun 1572. Bekerja untuk gereja, dia membantu dalam persiapan Buku Disiplin Kedua. Dia memprotes dengan keras terhadap Undang-Undang Hitam sehingga dia terpaksa mengungsi ke Inggris. Sekembalinya bersama Angus dan para Lord Protestan lainnya, ia melanjutkan tugas pelayanannya di St. Cuthbert. Di antara tulisan-tulisan lainnya, ia mempersiapkan untuk Sidang tiga khotbah melawan penistaan agama dan juga menerbitkan edisi revisi Mazmur, dan sebuah risalah berbahasa Latin mengenai "Persatuan dua Kerajaan" pada tahun 1604. Ia meninggal pada tahun 1606.[2]
