Peter O'Toole^[2][3] (2 Agustus 1932 – 14 Desember 2013) adalah seorang pemeran kelahiran Irlandia yang dibesarkan di Inggris.^[1] Ia kuliah di Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Sebelum memulai debutnya di dunia film pada tahun 1959, O'Toole memulai kariernya sebagai aktor teater dan meraih pengakuan sebagai aktor spesialis pemeran drama Shakespeare untuk grup teater Bristol Old Vic dan English Stage Company.

Ia menjadi terkenal setelah berperan sebagai T. E. Lawrence dalam film Lawrence of Arabia (1962) yang menghasilkan nominasi Academy Award pertama untuk dirinya. Sepanjang kariernya, ia kemudian dicalonkan sebagai pemenang Academy Award untuk film Becket (1964), The Lion in Winter (1968), Goodbye, Mr. Chips (1969), The Ruling Class (1972), The Stunt Man (1980), My Favorite Year (1982), dan Venus (2006), dan membuatnya sebagai pemegang rekor untuk aktor yang tersering dinominasikan sebagai pemenang Piala Oscar, tanpa pernah mendapat Piala Oscar satu pun. Meskipun demikian, ia pernah memenangi empat Golden Globes, sebuah penghargaan BAFTA dan sebuah penghargaan Emmy. Ia juga memperoleh Honorary Academy Award pada tahun 2003.
