Lagu tema James Bond

James Bond Theme, merupakan sebuah judul untuk lagu tema utama James Bond. Lagu ini diciptakan oleh Monty Norman dan dikomposeri oleh John Barry. Lagu ini, yang berjeniskan instrumental, muncul dalam setiap film James Bond resmi produksi EON Productions.

Lagu ini pertama kali muncul dalam film Dr. No tahun 1962 dengan gaya remix, dipadukan dengan musik ala Amerika Latin. Kemunculan penuh lagu ini mulai terlihat dalam film From Russia With Love. Sejak saat itu, lagu ini muncul dalam setiap awalan film Bond, tepatnya dalam adegan gun barrel sequence, kecuali untuk film Casino Royale 2006 yang tidak menyertakan adegan gun barrel sequence sebagai bagian dari misi pertama Bond sebagai agen 007, dan film Quantum of Solace yang memindahkan adegan gun barrel ke bagian akhir film.

Meskipun secara resmi ditulis oleh Monty Norman, kepemilikan hak cipta lagu ini sempat menjadi kontroversi selama hampir empat dasawarsa. Penyebabnya adalah John Barry sebagai komposer dari lagu ini, juga diklaim sebagai pencipta "James Bond Theme" yang kemudian berubah nama menjadi "The 007 Theme" dalam "On Her Majesty’s Secret Service". Pengadilan akhirnya memutuskan pihak Norman sebagai pemegang sah hak cipta dan hak profit James Bond Theme pada tahun 2001.[1] Dan supaya tidak tersaru dengan "The 007 Theme" ciptaan Barry, maka dalam setiap film James Bond sejak "On Her Majesty’s Secret Service" digunakanlah ending title: "James Bond Theme by Monty Norman", dan masih bertahan terus sampai saat ini.

Baik "James Bond Theme" dan "The 007 Theme" kemudian digunakan oleh beberapa artis popular lain, seperti Art of Noise, Moby, Paul Oakenfold, dan Propellerheads. The Beatles juga menggunakan beberapa porsi dari "Bond theme" dalam bagian awal dari lagu "Help" dalam rilis untuk versi AS. Sebuah grup band string quartet asal Inggris/Australia juga menggunakan nama bond (di tulis dalam huruf kecil) untuk lagu mereka yang berjudul "Bond on Bond."[2]
