Kadakkal
Kadakkal is a historic town located in the eastern part of Kollam district, Kerala. Kadakkal is a part of the Chadayamangalam Assembly constituency. Kadakkal is about 29 kilometres (18 mi) away from the taluk headquarter Kottarakkara. State Highway 64 passes through Kadakkal.[citation needed]
History
Kadakkal was where one of the notable movements of the Indian independence movement, the Kadakkal Riot Case, led by Franco Raghavan Pillai in 1938 took place.[1]
Economy
Kadakkal is an important business centre, containing businesses such as Kadakkal Chantha Market which sell goods such as coconut, areca nut, copra, tapioca and rubber.[citation needed]
Demographics
As of the 2011 census, Kadakkal has a population of 30,719 people[2], with 14,110 males and 16,609 females.[3]

The nearest bus stations at Kadakkal Panchayath is Kadakkal Bus Stand, while the nearest railway stations are located at Punalur, Paravur and Varkala. The nearest airport is Trivandrum International Airport.[citation needed]
