Sebastes thompsoni és una espècie de peix pertanyent a la família dels sebàstids i a l'ordre dels escorpeniformes.[4][5]

Descripció

Fa 30 cm de llargària màxima.[6][7]

Reproducció

És de fecundació interna[8] i vivípar.[9]

Alimentació i paràsits

El seu nivell tròfic és de 3,19.[10] Al Japó és parasitat pel copèpode Clavella parva (a les aletes dorsal, caudal i anal)[11] i per Stephanostomum hispidum.[12]

Hàbitat i distribució geogràfica

És un peix marí, demersal, oceanòdrom[13] i de clima temperat, el qual viu entre 40 i 150 m de fondària[14] al Pacífic[15] nord-occidental: la plataforma continental rocallosa[11] del nord del Japó (com ara, l'illa de Honshu),[11][15][16][17][18][19] Corea del Nord,[14][20] Corea del Sud,[21][22] el mar del Japó,[14][23][24][25] el mar de la Xina Oriental[26][27] i la mar Groga.[26][28][3][7][29] Els juvenils es troben associats amb algues a la deriva.[30][31][32][33][34]

Observacions

És inofensiu per als humans,[7] el seu índex de vulnerabilitat és de moderat a alt (55 de 100)[35] i, al Japó, és una espècie important per a la pesca comercial i la recreativa.[11]
